Practical answers, before you pick up the phone

Eleven years of callouts have surfaced the same questions over and over. We have written down the honest answers — including the ones that send some clients to other contractors.

How quickly can you respond to an emergency call?

Between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. we aim to be on site within 60 minutes for any address inside Kuala Lumpur or inner Selangor. Overnight, the window stretches to 90 minutes because we run a smaller after-hours roster. The dispatcher will give you a realistic ETA the moment you ring — never an optimistic one.

Are AquaShield technicians licensed in Malaysia?

Yes. Every senior technician on our roster holds a current plumbing licence issued by SPAN or the relevant local authority. Apprentices work under direct supervision until they qualify. We carry public liability insurance for every callout and can show you the cover documents on site.

How do you decide what to charge?

For repairs, we quote a fixed price after diagnosis — never an open-ended hourly rate. For renovations, the quote breaks down into labour, materials (by brand), waste disposal, and a contingency line of typically 5 %. The figure does not move unless the scope changes, and any change must be approved in writing.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer (FPX, DuitNow, IBG), credit and debit cards via our portable terminal, and cash for jobs under RM 1,500. Renovations typically follow a 30 / 40 / 30 split — deposit, midpoint after waterproofing, and balance on handover.

Do you offer a workmanship warranty?

Repairs come with a 90-day workmanship card on the labour we performed. Replacement parts retain their manufacturer warranty in full — and we register the unit on your behalf during the visit. For full renovations, the workmanship cover extends to 12 months from handover.

Can I supply my own taps, fittings, or appliances?

Yes. Many clients pick fixtures they love the look of, and we install them. We inspect what you bring on site, flag anything that is not compatible with Malaysian water pressure or local standards, and proceed once you confirm. We cannot warrant the part itself, only the installation around it.

What areas in Malaysia do you cover?

Our day-to-day coverage is the Klang Valley — Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Cheras, Bangsar, Ampang, Mont Kiara, Damansara, Puchong, Cyberjaya, Putrajaya, Sungai Buloh, and Kajang. For larger renovation projects we travel to Negeri Sembilan and the southern tip of Perak. Outside that, send a message and we will be honest about whether it makes sense.

Will the visit require my home to be without water?

Only briefly, and only for the section being worked on. We isolate at the smallest valve we can — usually a single tap or floor — to keep the rest of the house running. For renovations, we draft a daily plan that shows when each fixture will and will not be usable.

Can you handle small commercial premises (cafés, clinics)?

Yes, and we have a separate dispatch flow for them. Café and clinic owners can sign up for a service contract that includes scheduled grease trap cleanouts, monthly pressure checks, and priority dispatch — all scheduled outside your operating hours.

Do you offer ad-hoc consultations without a service callout?

Yes — a one-hour on-site consultation costs RM 250 and is credited in full if you proceed with us. We will walk through the building, listen to your concerns, and write up a one-page summary you can use to plan or to brief a different contractor.

Question not answered above?

Drop us a line. Most enquiries are answered the same working day, even if the answer is "we cannot help with that — try this other firm".
